The adoption of electric and sustainable means is a crucial step to ensure a zero-impact future. In particular, the emergence of electric mobility, such as e-bikes or e-scooters, is transforming the way we move around the city, offering agile and environmentally friendly solutions.

It is essential to educate the Generation 2.0 on the importance of using environmentally friendly vehicles, highlighting the benefits not only for the environment but also for the quality of human life. Promoting sustainable mobility, integrating electric bikes and scooters, is an innovative vision of everyday mobility. This combination of means reduces traffic, decreases air and noise pollution, and promotes a healthier lifestyle.

In schools all over Italy, there are more and more projects and workshops dedicated to sustainable mobility. Among the many initiatives, stands out the “Air Festival”, an event that is celebrated on the first day of spring in Emilia Romagna.

The event invites students and teachers to reach the school by ecological means such as bicycles, scooters or on foot. This simple gesture not only reduces air pollution but also educates young people to the importance of a sustainable lifestyle. The promotion of the initiative is also done through stickers distributed to students, which serve as visual reminders for the whole year.

Examples of activities we have come across include:

  • Competition: “Air Festival 210 days a year… Create an image to convince your peers, high school students like you, to go to school in an environmentally friendly way. Typology of the works: “…photography – photomontage – drawing – watercolor – comic – vignette – graphic creation… the text of comment, slogan or other written matter accompanying the paper may not exceed 20 words”
  • Cycling relay of the Emilia Way Objective: “…to stimulate a galaxy of bicycles left to the free invention of the participants…”. Method of realization: “…real bike relay following the itinerary suggested by the attached guide “The cycle path of the Via Emilia… Loop routes along the ideal axis of the Via Emilia… Bike tours along the Via Emilia with return by train…”.
  • Electric bike fair Objective: “…presentation to the school community of an ecological means of locomotion…” Organizational arrangements: “…in the last two hours of class will be presented various models of electric bikes to children and parents. The economic operators of the sector will be present, providing explanatory materials and encouraging the demonstration of the exposed media”. (https://www.green-school.it/uploads/files/39.pdf)

Through education and awareness, we can build a new generation of aware and responsible road users ready to contribute to a greener city, safe and pleasant to live. We invite everyone to reflect on their mobility behaviour and adopt solutions that respect the environment and guarantee the safety of all.
